Spring 2011

Andrew S. May, Esq., President of May Law, PC, attended the National Futures Association's (NFA) one-day workshops on March 2, 2010. The keynote address was given by Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Commissioner Michael Dunn. The topics included Commodity pool operator (CPO)/Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA) regulation, disclosure to current and performance repository. The afternoon session covered pool reporting, sales practices and surviving an NFA audit.

"The sessions are invaluable into gaining insight as to how the regulators approach own their rules and regulations and different scenarios," Mr. May said.

Spring 2010

The topics included CPO/CTA regulation, disclosure to current and performance repository. The afternoon session covered pool reporting, sales practices and surviving an NFA audit.

Andrew S. May, Esq., President of May Law, PC, attended the Chicago Bar Association's Annual Securities Law Seminar on March 18, 2010. The seminar focused on how the upheaval in the financial markets have affected the number of customer initiated arbitrations, the types of claims made and the overall "win" rate for claimants. Also, the retention efforts of reorganization of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) were discussed.

Fall 2009

Andrew S. May, Esq., President of May Law, PC, attended the Future Industry Association's 2009 Expo on October 20-21, 2009. At the many sessions, the topics and speakers focused on the political outlook in Washington, DC and how that could affect the futures industry, the regulatory and compliance outlook for the year ahead as well as the likely changes, position limits, exemptions to and reporting thereof.

Fall 2008

Congratulations to May Law PC client L1 Capital Partners, LLC, for being named by Futures Magazine as one of the "Hot New CTAs" for this year.

On October 3, 2008, Andrew May was interviewed by Todd Santorelli with O Six Media on his thoughts on the global financial crisis and practicing in the futures and commodities law area during these turbulent times.
